Critique Reflection (Pendulum)

My revised animation was a definite improvement from my initial pendulum animation. In terms of creativity, I have a strength in creating and portraying a specific story and environment. I can improve this strength by furthering the story and including more tropes and specific details. For instance, my scene, which was supposed to resemble a room with a ominous environment was a good start, but I could add a table with medical instruments or medicine on it. Moreover, one of my strengths was in the variety of textures I included. This strength can be developed even further by using UV mapping and through creating my own textures for specific objects.

Some of my weaknesses, however, included the fluidity of camera movements and the establishment of context in the scene and its environment. I can improve my camera movements by understanding the emotion that I want to portray and by avoiding abrupt movements unless necessary. I can also establish more context by focusing on lighting and contrast in lighting. The lighting in my pendulum scene had little depth, and there was little darkness, but these aspects would have helped develop the scary mood I wanted to develop throughout my animation.

During future projects, I want to focus more on my camera movements and lighting. I want to develop the ideas that I want to portray beforehand and decide on factors of lighting and movement that coordinate with these emotions. I will focus on creating camera movements only when necessary. For instance, I will not force in camera movements when there is little movement at the end of a scene.
